What is Regenerative Medicine and What Can It Do for Me?

Here’s the Problem:

Here’s a typical scenario:

You have had knee pain for years that is gradually getting worse. You go visit your PCP who refers you to an Orthopedist. After imaging, you are told that you have arthritis and because the arthritis is not bad enough to need a knee replacement; they recommend medications. After trying this option, you end up in their office 3 months later with no pain relief. Their next recommendation is steroid injections. After receiving that treatment, you get pain relief, but the pain returns months later. You then receive 1-2 more injections with pain relief lasting only weeks and then days. After another x-ray, your arthritis has worsened making you a candidate for a knee replacement. All of this in your 50-60s with lots of life and adventure ahead of you.

This is where we come in…

Enter - Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative Medicine is a natural, safe and effective treatment for joint and spine pain. The human body is already created with the unique capacity to heal itself. Sometimes, however, that natural healing process gets interrupted and pain persists. Regenerative Medicine utilizes injections that “trick” the body into thinking it has a new injury, therefore triggering a new healing response and a SECOND CHANCE at healing. Traditional treatments for pain consist of medications or steroid injections all of which are “bandaids”. Surgery is permanent and cannot be undone regardless of the outcome.  Patients are often left in the same pain or worse. So lets take a look at this scenario again…

You have had knee pain for years that is gradually getting worse. You go visit your Primary Care Provider who refers you to an Orthopedist. After imaging, you are told that you have arthritis and because the arthritis is not bad enough to need a knee replacement; they recommend medications. However, your Aunt Susie told you about Regenerative Medicine and how it helped her! She gives you the information of a doctor who does these very treatments and you go see him to find out your options. He does a series of treatments on you and “ta-da!” 6 months down the road you are running again, walking again, chasing grandkids again, riding your bike again...

Pain steals life away. It holds you back. Our ONE AND ONLY GOAL is to get you back to DOING WHAT YOU LOVE AGAIN!

Have You Ever Thrown a Dart Blindfolded?

At North Idaho Regenerative Medicine, we use ultrasound guidance to perform our injections. Many research studies have shown that the success of a procedure is based upon accurate needle placement, to ensure the injection is placed in the correct structure generating pain. The majority of other clinics use simple “blind” injections or low sophistication level ultrasound guided procedures; we use more advanced ultrasound guided procedures for most joint, soft tissue, and spine injections.

Prolotherapy?

Isn’t Dextrose Just Sugar Water?!

Prolotherapy, AKA Proliferative Therapy, is the very first Regenerative Injection Therapy and was introduced in the 1950’s by Dr. George Hackett. Prolotherapy involves the injection of dextrose, a natural irritant solution, into an area of chronic pain to create a targeted beneficial inflammatory response to stimulate and assist the body’s own natural healing process, resulting in the formation of new cells migrating to the weakened area, increasing blood flow, and allowing for the growth of new and strengthened tissue.

Platelet Rich Plasma?

Tell Me More!

Platelet Rich Plasma, commonly referred to as PRP, is the injection of YOUR OWN blood platelets. These platelets recruit your own body’s stem cells to help heal up an area. PRP Treatments consist of a simple blood draw in-office, harvesting the platelets from the blood and then re-injecting them into the injured area. PRP Treatments are tried and true solutions for pain that have been around for 30+ years.

What’s the Buzz About Stem Cells? You do not need to go to Mexico to receive World Class Stem Cell Therapy treatment

Stem cells are found in many tissues and organs throughout the body. Their primary role is to heal the body after it has an injury. Unfortunately, as we age, our stem cell population decreases thus leaving us more susceptible to aches and pains. The beauty of stem cell therapy is that these areas can be re-populated, thus supporting the body again as it heals itself. There are many options for stem cells; all of which will be discussed at your consultation.
